Materuni Waterfalls & coffee tour

A full-day trip toward Moshi: a forest hike to a 70-metre waterfall followed by a hands-on coffee experience in a Chagga village — roasting, grinding and drinking your own cup. The most requested day trip for good reason.

Arusha National Park

The closest park to town — giraffes, buffalo, colobus monkeys and flamingo-dotted crater lakes under Mount Meru. Doable as a half-day, better as a full day with a picnic. No long transfers, so it's ideal for a first game drive or a tight schedule.

Lake Duluti canoe & forest walk

A volcanic crater lake ringed by forest, 20 minutes from town. Paddle past monitor lizards and kingfishers, then walk the rim trail. Calm, cheap and family-friendly.

Chemka (Kikuletwa) hot springs

Turquoise spring water surrounded by fig trees, about 90 minutes away. Bring swimwear and a picnic and make a slow day of it.

Ngorongoro Crater

A long day (start before dawn) but one of the most extraordinary wildlife sites on earth — a caldera floor holding lions, elephants, rhino and tens of thousands of grazers. If you have only one big-ticket day, this is it.
